Being Italyn by blood and living in the heat of Dubai for many years, we have always understood the priority of comfort, quality, and durability, thus choosing fabrics that allow our body to breathe. This is the secret behind our versatile designs being the perfect staples for warm weather and layering.

In the last ten years, this dream has grown tremendously, with our gorgeous 2birds family continuing to expand beyond Dubai. From a little stall at Ripe Market to opening two of our own shops and shipping worldwide from our online store, our circle just keeps on growing. 

We dedicate so much of our success to our amazing, women-empowered support network and our dedication to the ladies who represent the 2birds name. It’s heartwarming to imagine that our sweet Ripe Market stall has reached across oceans to the community that we have today.

To celebrate a decade of 2birds, we hosted an evening with some of the beautiful ladies who have been shopping with us since our story began. Amidst delicious Bussola cocktails and snacks, a stunning sunset, and an array of 2birds dresses on display - throwback and new collections included - we shared immense gratitude for the 10 special years that have gone, and everything that is still to come.

It has been the most wonderful passion-driven journey so far and we couldn’t be more thankful for everyone who has shared the 2birds love along the way. We adore what we do and are constantly working on our ever-evolving designs. Let’s just say, the next decade is looking as bright as our favourite fabrics!

Live, Love, Linen

Linen clothing is the epitome of timeless. It remains to be one of the most earth-friendly and sustainable natural fibres, aligning the gorgeous fabric not only with our 2birds design dreams, but also our eco-conscious intentions. 

It is no secret that linen is arguably most loved for its breathability factor, making it ideal for the warm weather that we have in mind when creating our pieces. However, linen's moisture-wicking magic doesn't stop in the sun. At 2birds, we believe in year-round, versatile fashion, and linen lives up to exactly that. The fabric is made from the stalk of a flax plant, which is a natural insulator and humidity reliever. So while it keeps us cool in summer, linen also knows how to reserve your body heat while releasing any excess, allowing for comfortable cosiness in any weather.

If our looks are going to be loved year-round, they need to last. Thankfully, linen is renowned for its durability and fabric strength. The material is notably resilient and long-lasting, so it won't shrink, stretch or shapeshift; with mindful care, our linen looks make the perfect generational wardrobe staple! In fact, you should find that your linen pieces simply become even softer over time - it's like a gift that keeps on giving.

But what does mindful care of linen look like? Don't stress, we're a wanderlust loving label, so we wouldn't want our looks to be a hassle when taking them around the world. Whilst it is important to give it a little extra love, linen is still a breeze to care for just as it is breezy to wear. 

Here are a few tips for loving your linen:

• Wash your linen pieces with similar colours and in a smaller load. For best results, wash them inside out and separately from regular fabrics and heavier clothing articles (e.g. hoodies, jeans)
• Linen can be machine-washed - select a gentle cycle and lukewarm water (<40°C)
• It is beneficial to use mild, high-quality detergent (delicate fabric detergents are a good option)
• If handwashing, don't twist or scrub your linen pieces. Soak for 10 minutes and gently swish it in lukewarm water, before draining and rinsing the fabric of all soapy residue
• Linen clothing can be tumble-dried on a low heat, but it is preferable to dry them naturally. If tumble drying, take your linens out whilst they are still slightly damp and allow them to finish air drying flat or hung up to preserve the material

Ultimately, linen is a superior fabric choice and it is no wonder we continue to add stunning new looks to our linen loving collection. We strive for comfy, classic, chic pieces to keep us cool all summer long and cosy when a breeze rolls in; so we can always count on linen being our material BFF when it comes to designing your forever go-tos.

Who knew that after school pick-ups chats would have led us here? We're Sue and Caroline, the 2 Dubai based Aussie birds who used to melt in the heat of the school parking lot, whilst talking about the lack of cool, breathable clothing here in the Middle East. It was quickly revealed that we shared this passion for sustainable and light fabrics and fashion.

And so, our 2birds label was born and our sunny, salty, sandy story began.

Both of us being Italyn by blood and living in the heat of Dubai, we understand how vital it is that our clothing allows for our body to breathe. By using airy, natural fibre fabrics, such as Rayon Voile and Linen, warm weather stands no chance against our lightweight looks. When Dubai winters roll around, and the coastal desert breeze chimes in, our looks remain season staples as a result of their versatile ease for layering. It is imperative to our goals that we design collections that are timeless in both style and durability.

As a small, local brand, we ensure a personal touch in every detail at every part of the process. Our expat lifestyle has taken us on travels to many beautiful places around the world, so we want our 2birds collections to embody that wanderlust, as well as our love for the earth. Eco-friendly fashion is at the front of our minds as each piece is handmade with hand screen printed fabrics to align with our goals of sourcing only what will actually be used. Our limited edition essence stems from the brilliance behind the scenes. We take deep pride in being a women-led business. It is an honour in our joint role as the owners of 2birds and the designers of each piece to see our ideas come to fruition with the 2birds family that we are grateful to have built. Each collection is brought to life with the talent of our wonderful female tailoring team in Bali, our female jewelry maker, and female assistant graphic designer. With an all female retail staff, a female social media manager, a female accountant, a female PRO, and a female sponsor, 2birds continues to operate thanks to the work of this empowering team, so we can thrive in the local and international community of our gorgeous women customers!

Our ever-evolving collection and aspirations as a company are driven by an incredible female force. 

When we think back to those two mums that stood chatting at the after school pick-ups, we are deeply thankful to reflect on how those simple conversations have become our reality. The longevity of our story and styles is proven by the photos we receive of our original looks still being worn to this day by our beautiful 2birds tribe. It is even more thrilling to know that we've still got so much more to come. 

From collaborations with other sustainably conscious, summer loving artisans, to local events that allow us to connect with our 2birds community, to an abundance of fresh designs that are always brewing in our minds, our story is only continuing to flourish.
